I am immensely thankful for been given the opportunity to be trained in cornea by Dr John Sir, who is someone really excelling in his field of expertise and an exemplar at handling really complicated cases. From limbal stem cell deficiency with SLET, to Amnion grafting, Keratoplasties from DSAEK, pKP, tKP, LASIk he covers absolutely every anterior segment surgery with extreme finesse.
John Sir had been not just a great surgeon and doctor to his patients but an excellent teacher who was throughout the training very patient and took time out of his busy schedule to explain every single doubt or question I had. He allowed me to learn now just surgeries but also attend OPDs with him to see preoperative and postoperative picture of diseases. Throughout the training he allowed me to attend lectures on surgeries which I wanted to specialise in and even organised some lectures so that I could attend before my training ends. I am incredibly grateful to have had this golden opportunity to have learnt so much for him and his team, all of whom have not just been kind, helpful but also made me feel part of the team, to the point of cutting the cake on the last day, thinking of which to this day warms my heart.
John sir customised the entire training process according to my needs at my hospital in Germany, which is something I will reap benefit of for years to come and for which I will always remain indebted and incredibly obliged for.
In the end, John Sir even went out of his way in providing me all important theory material in a pendrive so I have something so fall back on when I am operating on my own.
I can only convey my heartiest thanks to John Sir, his team and the programme he has set in place for Corneal training.
I am very thankful for team Susrut for this opportunity and will remain forever grateful for it.
